Cowichan Lake weir begins operation May 1, 2007

Crofton, BC - On May 1, 2007, Catalyst Paper will resume operating the Cowichan Lake weir, which regulates water flow out of Cowichan Lake. The weir operation will gradually reduce water flow from the lake into the Cowichan River to the target level of 15 cubic metres per second set by the Ministry of Environment.

The Cowichan Lake boat lock, which allows boats to travel between the lake and the river, will also begin operating again on May 1. Both the weir and boat lock were closed for the winter season in November 2006.

Catalyst appoints David Smales as chief financial officer

Vancouver, BC – Catalyst Paper Corporation president and chief executive officer Richard Garneau announced the appointment of David Smales as vice-president, finance and chief financial officer, effective today. Mr. Smales had been serving in the role in an acting capacity since March 29, 2007.

Catalyst Paper cuts loss despite weak markets

Richmond, (BC) – Catalyst Paper (TSX:CYT) posted a net loss of $9.8 million ($0.89 per common share) in the first quarter of 2013. The loss was $11.6 million before specific items. Improvement over the final quarter of 2012 – when the company recorded a loss of $35.2 million ($1.55 per common share) and $15.7 million before specific items – was driven by increased prices for pulp, and lower maintenance costs.

Catalyst Paper’s offer accepted by holders of US$15.6 million of Floating Rate Senior Secured Notes

Richmond, BC – Catalyst Paper (TSX:CYT) announced today that holders of approximately US$15.6 million of its Floating Rate Senior Secured Notes due 2016 accepted the offer made by Catalyst on March 26, 2013 to purchase up to approximately US$20 million of its Floating Rate Notes. The offer expired 5:00 PM, New York City time on April 24, 2013.
